Pack it up, Plug it in, let me begin…

If I had this up last week, I would have mentioned my latest mortal enemy. I call him coffee shop guy.

Last Sunday, I’m sitting all quietly in the corner of a trendy little coffee shop, headphones on, listening to some tunes since I wasn’t really interested in what the overhead speakers were playing. I’m minding my own business and some guy walked over and told me to lower my music. Are you serious? He asks me, someone who’s wearing headphones, to lower my music? If he wanted to read the paper in complete and utter silence, why doesn’t he stay home or consider asking management to lower the overhead music? There is absolutely no way I would have been able to listen to my music without turning the volume up, yet I could still hear the overhead music quite loudly, even at 100% of my own volume.

After being rudely interrupted, I took my headphones off to listen to what he could have been possibly listening to. The most he could have heard was a few chords every so often. There were tons of other tables to sit at, so he could have moved. If people are too loud for my liking, which usually is never the case since I’m not as anal as this guy, I would have no problems moving to the next available table. He needs to invest in a pair of earplugs. I bring this up again since we once again crossed paths today and he knew to sit much further away in case I would dare bother his Sunday NY Times perusal. And as I sit here, my music is pumped up and the overhead music is still louder than my headphones. I’d like to see him complain about the house music. I think the odds of that happening are about as good as my coffee re-heating itself.
