Intro-shrunktion

Whatever happened to the tv theme song? You watch shows like Lost and Heroes and all that we’re lucky to see is a brief 5 second title shot. Are we just too cool these days for opening sequences or is this just one way to sneak in yet another 30 second commercial? Obviously, they wouldn’t dare think to add the extra time towards the show. Time is $ but it certainly doesn’t mean the staple shows should be without their introductory opening credits. It’s really the only time the secondary characters get the recognition they deserve.

Case in point: Herman’s Head. As I dig into the archives, I couldn’t help but come across this oldie but certainly goodie. If that doesn’t scream classic 80’s synth-pop with somewhat of a Saturday Night Live feel and Melrose Place saxamaphone, I don’t what else does. They sure don’t have quality shows like this anymore.
